Suede is the reverse side of leather, which is sanded down to achieve a soft and supple appearance. It comes from farms in Rio Grande do Sul and is tanned in Brazil without the use of hazardous or banned chemicals. VEJA uses compliant dyes and ensures sensible water consumption during the tanning process. The suede is also coated with water-repellent oils free from PFCs (chemical compounds) to protect the shoes from light rain
